Welcome to the Rugeley Power Station Society of Model Engineers  . . . 'on line'  !

Thank you for visiting our website.  We are a group of model engineers that meet at our workshops, steaming facilities and running track within the grounds of the Rugeley Power Station in Staffordshire. Our Society has been established for 46 years having been formed in 1971 when it was originally located In Cannock Park before the Society relocated within the grounds of the Rugeley Power Station and construction work on the new track was completed in August 1991.   Since then thanks to the work carried out by dedicated members our track and facilities were continuously upgraded and improved.  The main interest represented by our Society is the steam railway locomotive and steam traction engine, although our members interests also include diesel outline electric locomotives.

The Rugeley Power Station is being decommissioned.  Our railway is located within the power station grounds . .   and as a result in September 2017 our society was asked to vacate our site and was no longer able to operate our miniature steam railway.  Since then our members have enjoyed many visits to other societies, and members have continued to meet at least every month until February 2020 when Corvid 19 arrived.

However . . . the management of Rugeley Power Station have now granted us  a License to allow our members ( but not visitors for the time being ) access to our site so that we could operate our railway again.  Currently our members are involved with bringing the site back to a satisfactory condition and general maintenance using strict social distancing disciplines and special 'Covid - 19' rules.  It is hoped we will be able to have a running day on our track next July.  Members should visit our 'PROGRAMME' page for more information.
